The Environment APPG is holding a inquiry on climate resilience, with the first session taking place on Monday 13th April, between 14:30-16:00, focussing on resilience for housing and infrastructure. It will be in select committee style, with both experts and people with lived experience of climate impacts as witnesses.

We are calling for written evidence and, if you would like to submit evidence, please use the form below which closes at the end of Thursday 30th April: Environment APPG

In the wake of recent storms and flooding, it is evident that climate impacts are already affecting our way of life. Climate disruption threatens critical national infrastructure; extended heatwaves can at times down transport and power systems; and floods and extreme weather overwhelm drainage, destroy infrastructure and disable communications.

Regardless of whether communities attribute the challenges they face to climate change, there is no question that many will feel its effects in the coming years. People living with poor health, in inadequate housing or in flood prone areas are already paying the highest price. Without greater resilience, the foundations needed for UK security may struggle to
function under compounding climate and geopolitical shocks.

There will be a second inquiry session in May focussing on food and nature.
