Circular businesses and community projects meet MPs for Circular Economy Week 2025
The circular economy can get high streets buzzing, foster local pride and deliver resilient growth across the UK. On 22nd October, the Environment APPG - in collaboration with ReLondon for Circular Economy Week 2025 - welcomed into Parliament small businesses and community leaders who are delivering the circular economy on the ground.
The government has set out strong ambitions to shift to an economy where waste is designed out and new jobs in repair and remanufacturing are created. But this transformation will need to be bottom-up and locally led to create inclusive growth across theUK.
We heard how new initiatives are making communities more resilient, and how government
leadership can make circular living the norm. With a Circular Economy Strategy due this autumn, this is a crucial moment to set a long-term path to sustainable growth.
Speakers included Mete Coban MBE, Deputy Mayor of London for Environment & Energy and Gemma Green, Reuse Development Manager at FCC Environment. We were hosted by Wera Hobhouse MP, APPG Vice Chair
