Environment APPG convenes second session of adaptation inquiry

27 May 2026
The Environment APPG held the second oral evidence session for the climate adaptation inquiry in Parliament with more expert witnesses and a great parliamentary panel.

On Monday May 18th, the APPG held its second adaptation inquiry oral evidence session in Parliament, following on from the first session in April. The focus of this session was on adapting nature and securing food. We heard expert testimony from witnesses representing The Woodland Trust, Kew Gardens, RSPB, Soil Association, the Nature Friendly Farming Network and the National Farmers’ Union. The first panel centred around adapting nature to extreme weather and the consensus was that nature-based solutions such as diverse tree planting, habitat restoration, and better water management are essential to protect ecosystems and support society. Full minutes from the session can be found below.

The insights gained from both sessions, along with all of the written evidence submitted will be used to inform the report that will be published at the end of the inquiry, which will include key recommendations.
