MPs re-elected to lead Parliament’s largest cross-party environmental group
Andrew Pakes MP has been re-elected as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Environment by fellow parliamentarians following a meeting on Monday 1st September.
He is joined by a cross-party committee of Vice Chairs: Rebecca Smith, Conservative MP for South West Devon; Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath; and Adrian Ramsay, Green MP for Waveney Valley.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Environment is the oldest and largest cross-party group working on environmental issues, with 146 supporters across the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The group works with charities, businesses and trade organisations.
The group aims to continue raising environmental ambition in Parliament at a crucial time for climate and nature action across the globe. Ahead of COP30, the APPG will be pushing for the UK to drive ambitious outcomes in Brazil that are essential to safeguarding humanity’s future. We will also be building on our previous work on the circular economy, ahead of the publication of the government’s circular economy strategy. Further plans will be announced
shortly.
